10 Eco friendly tips

Light bulbs!

As your old light bulbs burn out replace with these great eco friendly bulbs. Not only do they use less energy they save you a bundle on your monthly bills! I personally changed over all my bulbs on a new billing cycle day. I saved about $17 the first month!

Reusable bottles!

Not only will a reusable bottle help save you money, it will help save the environment. Up to 22 billion plastic bottles are ending up in landfills each year. I personally buy a 2 gallon container of water and fill my bottles as needed. It saves me money as well as helping the environment.

Programmable Thermostat!

These are great on your pocket. Some times you have to spend money to save money. Sounds kind of off but very true. Installing one of these could save you hundreds annually. Program air or heat to be warmer or colder during times you are not home as well as sleeping times.

Microfiber Cloths!

Save trees and money. Don’t use a paper towel every time you spill some thing. Use a cloth that can be used again and again. Microfiber cloths soak up more plus can be washed in the washer or rinsed and used again.

Electronics!

Instead of throwing old TV’s, DVD players, and other electronics away donate them! Some places will even accept broken electronics. Just because you don’t like that old box TV doesn’t mean some one else won’t!

Streak Free Windows!

News paper and vinegar work wonders on your windows, pocket and the environment! One tablespoon or vinegar or lemon juice per quart of water along with some old crumpled up newspaper will make your windows shine. Hint: Do inside horizontal and outside vertical to always know where that “streak” is!

Don’t idle your car!

I know it can be hot or cold and you want that air or heat on as soon as you get in your car but did you know your car warms and cools faster when moving. Get in and go!

Reuse those coffee cups too!

Did you know that some places offer a discount if you bring your own cup? It’s a wonderful thing to save money and the environment!

Gift cards!

Yes gift cards can be reused too! You can reload and give to some one. Reload and use again for yourself. Some grocery stores give perks for buying gift cards, instead of getting a new one every time, reuse it! Collect 10 different ones and reload with $5.00 each making a great Christmas present for the person who has every thing!

Being eco friendly also means being pocket friendly. Making a few changes here and there will save you money as well as help the environment!
